Early Life
He was born on 23 March 1978 in Crawley, West Sussex, to Sri Lankan Tamil Hindu parents. His mother’s name is Shanthi Ranganathan. Romesh also has a younger brother Dinesh. He was raised as a Hindu and still identifies himself as one. When he was in school, he suffered from right-sided ptosis, which caused a lazy eye as a child. He attended Birkbeck College, the University of London, where he studied mathematics. Romesh is married, and his wife’s name is Leesa. Both of them first met at Hazelwick School, where Romesh was a math teacher, and Leesa was a drama teacher. He started performing comedy while working as a mathematics teacher. In March 2014, he began presenting Newsjack on Radio 4 Extra.
